Your Home on Zillow and Redfin: Correct or Hide It
Real estate sites can show a photo, an estimate and the details of a house you never listed. You have some options, but not all of them.
Zillow and Redfin build home pages from public records and past listings, so a property page can exist even if you never listed the home. Zillow lets owners claim a home and correct facts such as bedrooms and lot size. We could not verify a Redfin option to remove a property page, but owners can claim a home, edit facts on non-active homes and hide old listing photos on desktop. Google also offers a Street View blur request, which Google says is permanent.

Search for a street address and one of the first results is likely a Zillow or Redfin page. These sites do not wait for an owner to list a home. They build pages from county records, past sales and listing data, so your house can appear with its photos, size and estimated value.
Why your home has a page
Property pages usually start from public records. As covered in how property records make your home address public, counties publish ownership and assessment data. Real estate sites combine it with old listing photos and automated estimates.
The result is a page about a physical address. It does not necessarily name you, but anyone who knows where you live can see inside your old listing photos and a price estimate.
What you can correct on Zillow
Zillow lets owners claim their home and edit certain home facts. Its help pages list items such as bedrooms, bathrooms, finished square footage, lot size, year built and remodel year. Changes made before listing a home can improve the data buyers see. Zillow has said Zestimates update after owners edit home facts, and the size of the change depends on the home and the facts changed.
We could not verify whether Zillow lets an owner hide or remove a property page entirely. Zillow's help center explains the current options, so check it before relying on any guide that promises removal.
What you can do on Redfin
We could not verify a Redfin option to remove a property page. It does offer these tools:
- Claim your home through My Homes
- Edit home facts on non-active and sold homes
- Hide old listing photos on a claimed home by going to My Homes, then Edit Photos, then Hide listing photos. This is a desktop option, and a Street View image appears instead
- Request changes to the Redfin Estimate through a support ticket, although the conditions are not entirely clear

Street View and map images
Map imagery can show the outside of your house. Google offers a Street View blur request. The process is to use Report a Problem on the image, choose the option for your home, certify the request, upload proof of address and submit. Google says the blur is permanent, so be sure before you do it. Blurring does not affect the real estate page, only Google's imagery.
Ways to reduce exposure
1Search your own address
Look it up in a search engine and on Zillow, Redfin and other property sites. Take screenshots of what appears.
2Claim and correct the page
Claiming gives you access to edit facts and, on Redfin, to hide photos. Check whether claiming adds your name to the page and decide with care.
3Hide old listing photos
Remove interior pictures from a past sale if the tool is available. Otherwise ask the site what options exist.
4Request a Street View blur if needed
Use the Report a Problem flow only if you want a permanent change.
5Check people-search listings
Real estate pages are one source. People-search sites and brokers may show the same address. See how to remove your address from the internet.
Limits of removal
Because the underlying records are public, a real estate site may recreate or retain a page. In states with strict privacy needs, an address confidentiality program may help for qualifying people. California's Safe at Home program provides a substitute address for eligible victims of domestic violence, stalking and certain other threats, though it does not scrub property sites.
